Initial data included records of sample location and core length. Laboratory work has produced lithological logs, photography and x-radiography, grains size analysis, and radiocarbon dates from the cores sampled in 2014. For the 2015 cores, lithological logs, photography and x-radiography have also been obtained, with grains size analysis and radiocarbon dating in progress. The sediment cores were collected to better constrain the submergence history of the east coast of Baffin Island. Through analysis of the stratigraphic record preserved in these cores and the dating of organic material contained within it, it is possible to determine when the sampled sedimentary features would have stopped developing due to submergence. The dates obtained from these cores are intended to complement dates retrieved from elevated shoreline features in order to provide the emergence history of the region. Immediately post-glaciation there is a period of rapid rebound, as recorded in elevated shoreline features. Over time, the land begins to submerge as the proglacial forebulge retreat from the region. This leads to shoreline features, such as deltas, being drowned by the sea and preserved. Sediment cores were collected in order to date some of the submerged deltaic features in the fjords of Cumberland Peninsula. By dating these deltas it is possible to determine when the sea level was at a particular point relative to the shoreline.
