All-sky camera imagery - ArcticNet Cruise 2016 - Beaufort Sea, Northwest Passage

The all-sky camera system consists of a Nikon D-90 camera, with a wide-angle fish-eye lens, a homemade enclosure with clear acrylic dome end-cap, and a small heater on a thermostat. The system is mounted on a small 'crows nest' above the wheelhouse on the CCGS Amundsen. Maintenance checks were performed daily.

Purpose

To collect all-sky photography at every 10-minute intervals from August to September 2016. Images can be used to manually create a dataset of cloud fractional coverage and cloud type and can also be used to determine presence of local fog.
